Severnpix is a small publishing house,
based near Worcester, UK, which was established in 2003, and which
specialises in motorway guides. It is owned and managed by Mike
Jackson.
Mike Jackson has lived and worked in many parts of Britain, and
so has plenty of experience reading maps, learning about buildings
and getting to know places. He did A-level Geography, a degree in
politics and economics, lectured in Media Studies at various Midlands
colleges and has worked as a freelance TV scriptwriter, producer
and director for the last 25 years. (You’ll discover a few
incidents from his “career” in the course of reading
the M6 Sights Guide).
He’s written a number of fringe theatre plays - including
one called the Carbon Monoxide Comedy Hour – about Midlands’
motoring, and Spaghetti Junction – about the Midlands life-styles.
He’s been a children’s TV producer, and was responsible
for ITV’s children’s presentation for many years at
Central TV in Birmingham. He’s worked as a location director
making Gaz Top Non Stop and Everything Must Go for ITV companies,
and Video Diaries, The Really Useful Show, Music Live, Bargain Hunt,
Flog it and The Antiques Roadshow for the BBC.
The Team
Of course Mike’s just the bloke who knocks on the doors and takes
the snaps. The books wouldn’t work without a gang of people
who provide a whole range of support, help and advice, some of whom
are as follows:
Kristina Thimm,
CD-Rom architect and graphic designer,
who did the delightful line drawings and layout for the M5 Sights Guide.
Lisa Griffiths,
the graphics and print designer who worked up the M6 Sights Guide.
Peter Sutton,
author and translator, who brings his forensic eye for shoddy English
to Mike’s TV script-style text.
Keith Bramich,
web guru, who created and launched our original website and operates
a terrific music and vision web-based music magazine.
John Elkington,
creative consultant and website producer.
Peter Mitchelson,
fearless Guide Road Tester.
Frances Anderson,
media lawyer, who makes sure we don’t face legal action.
Chris Burnley,
who looks after our accounts and knows everything about railways
– tiny snippets of which reach our pages.
